Bought this product after listening to built-in “3D” sound bar in new Mitsubishi LCD TVs. Shopped around and this appeared to be best “self powered” sound bar out there. I was definitely disappointed for the price and compared to my expectations based on the Mitsu TV. It does not even compare. But then again it doesn’t have 16 speakers either. The Polk sound bar does have great mid-range and the wireless remote sub is cleaner than the one on the Bose 3-2-1, but the high range is completely gone, and there is no chance for real three dimensional “surround” sound. I have to keep the speakers of my 42″ Panasonic Plasma on (for high range frequencies) and then find a volume balance with the remotes in order to get a complete sound from all the speakers. I do it pretty quickly, but it can be a pain. That being said, with the Polk bar and sub on it is a HUGE improvement over just TV speakers and it really makes the viewing experience much better. If your looking for a quick easy fix for sound with a less expensive or smaller HD TV, this might do it for you. But if your looking for really great sound from one unit … dont buy a sound bar. I also have the Bose 3-2-1 on the same exact TV in a different room, and with that set up the TV speakers remain off. The Bose is MUCH more dynamic with regard to three-dimensional sounds, but that is expected with separate L/R channel speakers. The Bose set up does not have as strong mids or tight bass, which are produced by most TV shows and movies. With regard to playing music, there is no competition, the Bose is vastly superior to the sound bar, but for TV and dialogue I prefer the Polk and Panasonic speaker combo, but that kind of kills the point of the upgrade.

needs more audio inputs. had to return to amazon, because I found same item at Best Buy $100 less. Of course Amazon charged a 20% restocking fee and would not price match.

I felt that this product delivered exactly what I wanted, which was an unobtrusive replacement for the factory speakers within an LCD TV. Before I purchased this, I was a little worried about the feet on the center speaker. I was afraid that they would not sit correctly with the base of the TV that I was hooking it up to. But fortunately, the feet do not attach to the speaker, instead, they act as a sort of cradle, and so I moved them as far apart as possible so that the speaker would not be sitting on the TV pedestal. This was an unexpectedly pleasant surprise. After opening the box, I had both the center channel and the subwoofer functional and synced with the TV remote in about 15 minutes. I have to admit that getting the remote to work took a little patience, but it was not a terribly frustrating endeavor.

As far as the sound goes, it’s just fantastic. The ability to adjust the sub independently is great, and the fact that it is wireless and can be placed just about anywhere in the room is a huge plus. I hid the sub underneath a corner table, and it works perfectly. The speaker bar is good; it’s far better than the TV speakers, but I wouldn’t say that it delivers a “surround sound experience.” Then again, that’s not what I was looking for.

This is a great upgrade from TV speakers, but don’t expect it to deliver the same kind of experience or personalization as a dedicated 5.1 home theater set up. I’m happy, and I would definitely buy this again.

Got this for my 52″ Samsung LCD, and I aggree with the other reviewer, the TV-speaker disabling feature and the “not available” message every time you adjust volume is anoying. It can be solved though, separate sound and video feed to the TV and only supply video. Don’t disable the TV speakers and the error message is gone. It’s not ideal but better than the error message.

Manual suggests pressing funktion on remote for full second and pressing slowly – don’t. After failing to learn 5 times based on instruktions I tried pressing faster (under half second frequency) and it did it.

Sound quality is better than TV and fills the big room (300 sq.ft.) better than TV speakers. I don’t know about the surround effect but the more potent center speaker combined with (the very compact and convenient wireless) sub is good. Dont expect a powerfull home theater sound from it, it is only what it is, a small upgrade.

I researched this one and thought the SoundBar SDA IHT would do what I wanted, but, aside from the increased bass via the subwoofer, there’s really very little improvement in overall sound quality compared to the built-in speakers of my Samsung UN55B8000. No, really — it’s not $500′s worth of better sound. I tried mightily to configure and adjust it (as much as you can), but no luck. For this money, it had to wow me. It didn’t. Also had difficulty programming a separate IR remote, and the SoundBar would not release previously-saved codes. Again, for this much dough I expected better.
