I bought this product over two 1/2 months ago, and it was defected. I returned it to JBL for an exchange. I had to pay for return shipment plus insurance of their defective dock. It took them two months to ship me out a new product. I called and they would give me an eta, but then push it back every two weeks. So finally I receive my product in the mail and it was the WRONG PRODUCT. It was the on Stage III not IIIP(for IPhone). So I paid close to $200.00(including the tax and the return shipping) and I don’t even have the right dock. Do not buy!!!

I realize it’s not Amazon’s fault, but I also received a defective item. The promised remote was not included, the dock did not charge my iPod Touch as promised, and the speaker would not work at all via the dock, though it did operate via the audio cord. The dock fittings also would not accomodate my older iPod, despite what it says on the tech specs about working with “all” docking iPods.

I only bother to write this review because I have seen similar complaints elsewhere, which I chose to ignore before ordering. I am very disappointed with quality control at JBL, I’m sorry to say.

I own a previous version of the OnStage speaker system, which I’ve been very happy with.

I bought this as a Xmas gift for my daughter to use in her kitchen. We both had old Altec Lansings, but I wanted better sound, stability and durability. This JBL is a vast improvement over our old units. The size and shape provides great stability and a small foot-print. The sound is very good, not as good as a big sound system, but I was not expecting that. I just wish it didn’t cost so much. I’d buy myself one.

I bought this with the intent of using it as an alarm clock/bedroom stereo with my iPhone 3g. Unfortunately, it refused to charge my iPhone, despite that being the FIRST bullet point on the back of the box. My phone would chirp like it was connected to power and the battery indicator would indicate charging, but I tried using it as an alarm clock two nights in a row, and woke up to a dead battery the next day. Not what I expected, especially for the price.

Additionally, my iPhone would give me a warning about the accessory not being compatible when I docked it. But only occassionally. I was using the right plastic dock adapter, and my phone was situated correctly, and it still complained. Odd.

On the plus side, the sound was great for such a small package, can’t knock that. So, if you don’t care about the dock actually charging your device, I recommend it. Good luck!
