Is home theater system only good for watching movies?
By admin On April 3rd, 2010I am thinking about getting a home theater system for my Samsung 40″ LCD TV. If I am not watching a dvd movie, can home theater system be used just by watching TV?

Yes, you can turn the home theater to listen to the tv sound. Some home theater is a box are not every flexible in adding other equipment to them. Check to make sure it has an audio input like optical. This way you can connect the cable or disc network audio output to the home theater to hear the tv sound. Hope this will help you out.

Of course you can.
You can configure your equipment in a variety of ways to fit your particular desires.
If you don’t care about using your theater speakers for regular TV, you can simply connect the cable/satellite box, for instance, directly to the TV.

Some of the crap-tastic $299 ‘systems’ where the Disk player is in a skinny receiver are a glorified DVD player with cheap plastic speakers attached.
People buy these and they work for DVD or BluRay – but then people discover they gave up the ability to feed the system optical from the TV for that low price.
There are some good HTB (Home Theaters in a Box) that have a full-sized receiver with lots of spare optical inputs. You need one of these to feed sound from the TV, a Cable/Sat box, a game system, etc.

Your home theater can certainly just be used for watching TV. I don’t have a huge home theater system to brag about but I do love the TV lift cabinet that I recently purchased. I like to be able to hide the DVD player and other cords and with the built in infrared system that the stand has, I am able to operate my TV and DVD player with ease while the doors on the cabinet remain shut. It’s so great. I also love the fact that I can hide my TV away when I want it out of view and with the TV lift, your TV raises in and out of the cabinet. The Home Theater System usually has options on the receiver that will allow you to change the source of the sound output. Mine has an option for TV, DVD, ipod, radio, usb and MP3 line in. You change it to the source to TV to use the surround sound for television and back to DVD when you want to watch a movie.

You can of course also play video games in your home theater. the realism of the Home Cinema experience is also bringing you new levels of video gaming thrills.
i´ve setup my home theater system (projector + sound system) and i am able to play with my xbox 360 using the projector and the sound system. and i must admit: it´s great
