How do I hook up my home theater system to my satellite receiver?
By admin On July 5th, 2010I have dish network, and have a new vizio LCD tv with a RCA home theater system hooked up to the tv. The back of the theater system has an optical audio cable input along with the tv but the satellite receiver does not.

unless your on a contract w/ dish, switch to Direct their receivers have the optical connection…….Otherwise contact dish about a receiver upgrade

You can use the analog audio (red & white) or I recommended the digital coaxial output, often black or orange in color.

Check your Vizio tv and see if it has an optical audio output. If it does connect an optical cable from it to the home theater system. Otherwise switch tv provider or get an upgrade on the box from the provider. Using rca jacks will not provide you a surround sound, only stereo. Hope this will help you out.

Connect composite cables ( red & white ) from satellite receiver to Theater system for audio.

are you looking to get digital sound from the cable box ?check to see if theres a coaxial digital out thats the other way to get digital sound if not then your stuck with rca analog outputs if all these fail then call and get upgrade

You need to upgrade to a HD Dish Network receiver as they have the audio optical outputs.
