I needed to wake up to music and had specific criteria:

    1. Alarm clock must work with iPod so I could set what song I woke up to

    2. Clock must have bearable alarm sound just in case iPod is not available.

    3. Clock must increase sound from silence incrementally so I’m not jarred out of sleep.

    4. Clock must be small and portable so I can pick it up and walk with it while I get ready in the AM w/o waking hubby

    5. Clock must work on batteries and wall plug that detaches

    6. Clock must be white or silver

And with that said, this clock was so perfect it’s like I imagined it! Not only that it’s an travel clock so it’s portable enough for trips. It does not have all the wiz bang of some of the other clocks but I really didn’t need all of that. The unit is much smaller than it looks on the site and the speakers pack a serious punch (they are on the sides). I would buy this again and I’ve been recommending it to all my friends. Perfect!

I have not had my iHome clock radio for more than 24 hours and am excited to review it. First feature I like is the light to the clock can be turned completely off. And it had multiple setting for brightness. For such a small system the sound is AMAZING!! It also has cool features like the daylight savings time button. It took me a minute or two to set the clock right so I can implement the DST option. A favorite feature of mine on any time device is the ability to do military (24hour) time. I am still trying to work out the logistics of my iPod Nano’s (4th Generation) alarm and the iHome’s alarm. In the instructions for the alarm clock it says you can not use a skin or case while docking. I have a skin from DecalGirl.com on my Nano and it docks and works fine with the skin on. ALSO…this system will travel! Got to love a charging (not when powered by batteries)/playing/clock dock that is small enough to pack (comes with AC adapter cord)!

Great product and I highly recommend it if you want a small multifunctional dock/clock.

At long last — a truly portable ipod travel alarm clock! The whole system weighs less than just the power adapter for my iHome iH9 ipod alarm clock (admittedly, this adapter is so ridiculously massive that it needs support just to stay plugged into a wall socket), and it takes 240 V so that it also can be used in Europe, with just a plug adapter. The sound quality is amazingly good for such a small system (the speakers are the round areas at the ends). The system is overall very nicely designed and appealing. Thank you, iHome!

I bought this in an electronics store at the mall where they had one out on display and I could pop in my iPhone 3GS to test it. I’ve got a fairly simple set of criteria that I’m getting pretty good at testing for:

    1) Does it charge the 3GS? Yes. (my older clock radio did not)

    2) Is it easy to make the device play music? Yes. (you’d be amazed at how many iPod speakers require significant fussing to get them to play the iPod)

    3) Can I listen to Internet radio? Yes. (Some devices will only play the iPod)

    4) Will it wake to muisc? Yes. (Again, not all of them do)

    5) Is the sound quality respectable? Yes. For a device the size of a Toblerone bar, this thing is amazing. Not much bass and it won’t make your ears bleed, but it’s clean and accurate and makes you feel you’re listening to decent stereo rather than an alarm clock.

This is the first device I’ve owned that made me want to pop my iPhone in, fire up a Genius playlist and listen. The button selection is as simple as it could be, I can kill the clock light at night with the Snooze bar, and it wakes to iPod perfectly in the morning with zero setup. The only negatives I can come up with are that it’s so light that you end up moving it around the night stand when you undock it, and it has no built-in radio, which might bother some people but not me. My bottom line, this is a device that lives up to the elegance of the iPhone. They should sell tons of these.

I expected a reasonably competent little speaker system. I planned to use it as a clock radio — and we all know that clock radios today generally have mediocre sound quality at best.

These speakers produce stunningly good sound. We placed it in the living room of our new vacation home, and it fills the place with solid sound. I never would have expected bass tones this good from speakers so small, and the sound is very pleasing across the spectrum.

I am ordering another one for the bedroom, as my wife won’t let this one out of the living room.
