I’m getting a new home theater system to go with my new HDTV. I want to have the best possible audio and video. I know for the best picture I’m gunna get an HDMI cable for audio and video. And I know for the best sound I would need to get a digital optical audio cable. But if the HDMI cable carries audio and video, is the digital optical audio cable necessary? Would it make it sound even better? Thanks ahead of time.

I have an xbox 360, a projector, and a home theater system. I want to plug my xbox into the Receiver using HDMI, so that the Receiver gets high quality audio. Then I want the video from the HDMI cable to leave the Receiver by component video, since py projector doesn’t have HDMI, or DVI. Is this possible

I was just wanted to know if the price is higher on the Blu-ray home theater system because of the Blu-ray player itself. Is there a difference in the quality of the sound produced? Or is it just the fact that one has is just a DVD player and the other is a Blu-ray player?

I am doing my brand new basement, and want to put a home theater system there, as it will be the main place where we watch TV and movies, and want to get something good quality, but not spend a fortune.

I’m planning to complement a 32″ in my small bedroom with either a home theater system or a nice set of headphones for a better movie watching experience. The room is extremely small and my planned setup gives me only about 7 feet between where the TV will be mounted and the opposing wall.
Would a HTS be effective enough in such a layout to justify the cost? I like the idea of having one, but would I get better results with a good set of stereo headphones?

Hi
I am looking for a wireless home theater system as I dont like cables that much. I have no idea if the sound in the wireless home theater system will be weaker because it will be wireless. I just want somekind of wireless home theater system that is wireless somehow or have some wireless features.
If there is some other wireless home theater system that is not wireless but have long/thin cables then that would be also be nice I guess. Thanks for the help

I currently have a 1000 watt Phillips home theater system and would like to get rid of the passive subwoofer and put in a powered subwoofer. The phillips system does not have component audio outputs. It only has the two small speaker wires that go to the subwoofer. Please let me know how I can hook up a powered subwoofer to this system.

I’m by no means an audiophile, but would like a decent home theater sound system. What do i need to look out for when buying a used system? I don’t want to invest in a dead technology. At a minimum, what should I look for?

I have a RCA RT2870 Home Theater System and recently it has started making a loud noise sounding like a motor running when I turn it on. I have to leave it on for a minute then turn it off and on for it to stop. How can I fix this?

I just recently purchased a Panasonic TH-50PX75U Plasma and the Panasonic SC-PT650 Home Theater System. I didn’t want to pay for the installation so we did it on our own. The only problem e have encountered is we can not get the surround sound to work when just watching cable or playing video games. It only works when using the DVD player. Is there a way to make it work?
Will these answeres provide surround sound when using Nintendo Wii?

I have a Dell XPS 400 with the standard sound card. (Blue, green, pink, yellow, and black jacks) I also have an Onkyo 7.1 home theater system. I am trying to run my computer through the Onkyo and when I got it connected I only get sound from the left side and center. I set the soundcard to 7.1 home theater surround sound in the sounds and audio devices panel of the computer and tried all the jacks on the sound card. I also tried every possible combination on the back of the Onkyo, but nothing changes. Will this just not work, or do I need a different soundcard? If so what kind?
